PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

| Once you have arrived to Abingdon Guest House, especially
if you are going to be here a few days or if you are already
familiar with Manhattan, you may want to use public transportation.
Below is some information to help you find your way
back to the Guest House: |
To the Guest House:
- A, C, or E train to 14th St., or
- 1, 2, 3, or 9 train to 14th St. , or
- L train to Eighth Ave.

From New Jersey, take the 33rd Street train to West 9th
or Christopher Street station.

- M14 - Cross-town to 14th Street and 8th
Avenue
- M10 - (Downtown on 7th Avenue or uptown
on 8th Avenue) to West 12th Street
- M2, M3, or M5 - (Downtown on 5th Avenue)
to West 12th Street
- M5, 6 - (Uptown on 6th Avenue) to West 12th
Street
(Free transfer from subway and from all other north
and southbound buses to 14th Street)
- From Port Authority (42nd Street, between
8th and 9th Avenues), Take the downtown IRT or IND subway
(1, 2, 3, 9, A, C, E) to 14th Street, or take the M10
bus downtown on 7th Avenue to 11th Street.

ARRIVAL FROM AIRPORTS

| The best way to get from the airports to Abingdon Guest
House is by taxi. You must let us know if you are going
to take public transportation so that we will know that your
arrival may be delayed. Options for arriving from the airports,
including public transportation, are provided below: |

from LAGUARDIA
AIRPORT (LGA) |
- TAXI - Metered rate. Approximately $25 to $35 + toll fees and tip.
Estimated time: about 35-45 minutes, depending on traffic.
(Reminder: This is the best option.)
- BUS OR SHARED VAN - Follow ground
transportation signs. Look for "BUSES TO MANHATTAN." Take bus to "Port Authority" or Penn Station." Take Taxi to Guest House. Cost: about $15 per person +
taxi fare from terminal (about $5-$7). Shared vans will
usually drop you off at our door. However, the van will
likely make several stops and yours could be the first
stop or the last one. That could make a big time difference.
Estimated time: about 1 hour.
- SUBWAY - Q33 bus to 74th Street /
Broadway (in Queens), then E train Manhattan bound to
14th Street / 8th Avenue in Manhattan, or M60 Bus to 125th
Street / St Nicholas Avenue then A train Downtown to 14th
Street. When you get on the bus ask driver what stop for
the E train (Q33 bus) or A train (M60 bus). Cost: $2.00
for the bus + $2.00 for the subway if paying cash for
the bus (bus takes exact change only, no pennies, no bills),
or $2.00 total if paying with a Metrocard. Estimated time:
1 to 2 hours.

from NEWARK AIRPORT
(EWR) |
- TAXI - Approximately $40 to $45 + toll fees and tip.
Follow signs to Taxi Stand. Ask the Driver what the charge is to Manhattan (Greenwich
Village). Estimated time: about 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. (Reminder:
This is the best option.)
- BUS - Follow ground transportation
signs. Look for "BUSES TO NEW YORK ." Take bus
to "Port Authority bus terminal" or bus to "Penn
Station -- MANHATTAN." Price $11 per person + taxi
from Port Authority. Estimated time: about 1 hour.
- TRAIN - Airport Monorail to Newark
Airport station, then New Jersey transit to Penn Station
New York, then NYC subway here (A, C, or E train downtown
to 14th street), Cost $11.15 for the train + $2.00 for
the subway or about $6.00 for a taxi from Penn Station
to here.
NOTE: There is a Penn Station in Newark, New Jersey
as well as one in New York, New York.

- TAXI - Flat charge of $45 + toll fees and tip.
Follow signs to Taxi Stand. Tell Driver "Flat
Rate." Estimated time: about 45 minutes, longer during
rush hour. (Reminder: This is the best option.)
- BUS OR SHARED VAN - Follow ground
transportation signs. Look for "BUSES TO MANHATTAN." Take a bus going to either "Port Authority"
or "Penn Station." From either place take Taxi
to guest house. Cost: about $15 per person + taxi fare
from bus terminal (about $5-$7). Shared vans will usually
drop you off at our door. However, the van will likely
make several stops and yours could be the first stop or
the last one. That could make a big time difference. Average
time: about 1 1/4 hour. However, it can take up to 3 hours!
- TRAIN AND SUBWAY - (Best for those with little luggage):
From Kennedy Airport take the "Airtrain" to Jamaica Station. Pay $5 charge at end of ride and buy Metro-Card for subway @$2.00 per
ride. Ask for free subway map. Take subway E Train (Manhattan
direction) to 14th Street stop. Walk south on Eighth Avenue 3 blocks
to 21 Eighth Avenue for check in. Total cost:$7.00.
